Jan 1, 2007: Friends of Vengara formed on 1st Jan.2007. Around 100 members gathered near Bur Dubai creek and agreed to work for the welfare of Vengara village.  Mr.Parathi Kunhi Krishnan, Koodachera Sasi, Vinod V, Santhosh T.P were present in the meeting and we elected a committee to lead the association.  In the meeting we have decided to collect a mount of 10 from every members on monthly basis towards charity.  The same day we have collected around 940 dhs and decided to spent the first month collection to distribute cash endowment to 34 students of Vengara Hindu L.P School and Priyadharsini U.P School.  This function was held on 24th Jan.2007 from Vengara Hindu L.P School with the presence all Retired Head Masters of both Vengara Hindu School & Priyadarshini School.  34 students received cash endowment of Rs 250 and our total expense is Rs 11,000/-. Feb 9, 2007: The second meeting of Friends of Vengara held on 9th Feb. 2007. Around 80 members participated in the meeting.  By this time, our membership has reached around 200.

Mar 9, 2007: The third meeting of Friends of Vengara held on 9th Mar. 2007. Around 70 members participated in the meeting.  First three months, we have collected around Rs 40,000 as members subscription.

Apr 13, 2007: The forth meeting of Friends of Vengara held on 13th Apr. 2007.  Around 75 members participated in the meeting.

May 11, 2007: The fifth meeting of Friends of Vengara held on 11th May. 2007 in Bur Dubai Creek area.  Around 50 members participated in the meeting. Our membership collection reached around 80,000 at this time.  In the meeting we have decided to distribute uniform to poor students of all Schools of Vengara, Vengara Hindu L.P School, Vengara Priyadarshini U.P School and Vengara Welfare School.  Head of master of each school given the list of students who deserve the uniform, accordingly Mr.Sasi Koodachera (Treasurer) distributed the uniforms in separate function held in each School on 2nd July 2007.  Around 15,000 rupees spent for this function.  This is the second achievement of FRIENDS OF VENGARA since its starting. 

Jun 8, 2007: The sixth  meeting of Friends of Vengara held on 8th Jun. 2007.  Around 70 members participated in the meeting.  When we cross the first 6 months, our total collection has reached Rs 1 lakhs.  It is a great achievement when we think of Vengara.  Out of this amount we have already spent Rs 11,000 for Cash endowment function, Rs 13320 for uniform distribution. We have decided to help by giving Rs 10,000 to Mr.Pradeep Kumar Mattukkaran, a member of FRIENDS OF VENGARA, who is under treatment for the last 6 months.  The committee members who were present in Vengara during that time, handed over this amount to his family on 10th July 2007.  Also in the meeting we have decided to help Mr. Unni (Ex-gulf) who is suffering from lots of illness for the last few years by giving Rs 5,000/-.  The committee members have handed over this amount to his family members.

Jul 20, 2007: The seventh meeting of FRIENDS OF VENGARA held on 20th July in MINI BHAVAN HOTEL AUDITORIUM, Deira Dubai.  Around 150 members including families of members participated in the function.  We have arranged food for all members.  Even though it was summer vacation time, almost all members were present in the meeting.  Mr.Parathi Kunhi Krishnan, Nambradath Raghavan, Kakeel Damodaram, Sasidaran Kakkadan, Diviakaran - all senior members guided the function.  It was a great experience for many members, they are all seeing after very long time.  The function started at 11 am in the morning. Mr.Sasi K inaugurated the function, followed by Mr.Parathi Kunhi Krishnan, Mr. Vinod V & Nambradath Raghavan gave a small lecturing. Later Mr.Santhosh Vengara explained last 6 month activities of Friends of Vengara.  In the meeting we have decided to start a welfare fund for members by contributing minimum bearable amount.  Also we are trying to implement insurance coverage to families of our members.  Once we implement our member's families will get free treatment.  Another decision taken on this meeting, is to print THANKS CARDS at association expenses to all our members on their marriage time.  This will benefit our bachelor members.  Once we complete our 7 months, our collection has crossed 1.2 lakh, leaving all expenses still we have a balance of around 60,000 in hand.
