Our Guests in theyyam locations

Giorgio De Martio, Italy (Visited Kannur in Dec 2009)

.... the next day is funny, as the Theyyam-day-all-night-long produced an alternative view of the time, obviously, as don't sleep create a shift in perceiving time and landscape, other people. They have been deliciously nice and attentive, now I understand your attentiveness about the Vengara website, presenting so well the Theyyam, and, obviously, all the people that created, hold, and participate to the traditional performance, could be Indians scholar, simple tourists. My stay in and around Cheruvathur was wonderful. I experienced and recorded many wonderful performances. I do have a number of questions about what I saw and how everything fits together. I will follow up this email with some photos and queries, which I hope you will be kind enough to assist with. Visit his photo gallery

Thank you very much for your help. Now we are back in Switzerland, with a lot of new and deep impressions of Kerala and its people. You were a wonderful and heartful guide to theyyam. During our stay in Kannur we could get a little impression of the dephts an beauty of theyyam. It's for sure, that we will come back to go deeper: I will plan to stay much longer next time!

I just wanted to let you know that everything went perfectly fine, even with those last minute schedule changes. As soon as we were able to get in contact with Redish, everything was sorted. Thank you again for your help preparing for our filming schedule and accommodations.

Dont think i forgot abaut Theyyam- I think abaut it a lot. And abaut lovely people i meet in Kannur and Nileshwar. I started to write abaut Theyyamit, though it is not easy for me at all. Not easy to touch it, I would say. So I ask you for some more patience......... If I will get longer visa I would like to visit Kerale again - and maybe see theyyam one mote time. The best time for it, as i remember, is December - January? I would love to experience Theyyam once again. I am in Frankfurt, Germany, now. Earning money for my trim to India, among others.

Mehar, Kokila, Diana from Bangalore (Nov 2011)

The program on "Experiential Learning on Journalism" for the COMMITS media College (Convergence Institute of Media Management and Information Technology Studies ),Bangalore was a resounding success. The experience for the students who did the documentary on "Theyyam " was life changing. The captured "Theyyattam" gave the students the opportunity to experience traditional rituals that are intrinsic to the identity of the Coastal Kerala . The story of Theyyam told by the elders of the temple and the avatars of various theyyams were very captivating.
We take this opportunity to extend our gratitude to the member of Vengara who helped us in understanding the Malayalam Calendar Dates and schedules of Theyyattam . The INEXEL team strongly believes that it is through Vengara the students had the opportunity to get exposed to the cultural rituals and story of Theyyam.Thank you once again for all the support extended.
