Renovation of
Temple |
|
Till the
last years of 18th century this Vadukunda temple had retained the
culture of a rich civilization in this area. It is believed that during the
year 1780 – 1800 this famous temple had suffered a serious attack of the
Mysore ruler Tippu Sultans invaders and ruined to rubbles of stones. Till
the year 1979 the temple was thus lying in turmoil. In that year of 1979, a
set of devotees in the locality have formed a committee to renovate this
temple and started the work of reconstruction from debris. With
the whole hearted support and sincere efforts of the devotees in and around
the locality and even of the people outside the state, this temple complex
has now emerged as a beautiful and mighty shrine, attracting hundreds of
pilgrims daily who offer poojas and praying abundantly. The solitary
atmosphere surrounding to the temple and scenic beauty prevailing in the
back drop of Madai Para with the sight of Arabian sea in the south, Ezhimala
hillocks on the west and environmental cute on other sides will attract even
thousands of other tourists to this hillock place. An amount of more than
Rs 50 lakhs gathered through mere contributions from devotees by the
Renovation Committee and have been spent to achieve the present conditions
of the temple. Yet the works of not less than 25 lakhs are remaining to
completed the temple complex to the entire totality. |
